Imagine that inside every person there is a small, warm light (內在光明). The Buddha taught that this light — our bright, kind nature — is always there, even when we forget it. It never goes out.
How do we keep our light shining? One simple way is Right Speech (正語). This means we do not say unkind things about people behind their backs. When we are respectful with our words, others feel safe with us, and trust grows. Trust is the strong root that makes a friendship — a relationship — last.
Being generous keeps the light bright too. Helping your grandparents, listening carefully when someone speaks, or sharing your spare coins are all small gifts of love (Dāna 布施). Love is an emotion, and kindness is what we do with it.
