One day the teacher asked the students to sit as silent as a mountain. First they listened to their own breathing. Then the teacher began to speak softly — a guided meditation — and the children let the calm voice lead their minds back to the present moment.
Next, the teacher stood up and led a slow Tai Chi flow. Arms lifted like rising water; feet stepped like floating clouds. Every child moved differently, yet the whole class flowed together — this is harmony. The teacher smiled and said, “When your body and your breath agree, you have found harmony in motion.”
The teacher reminded them: each child is unique — no one else in the world moves, breathes, or thinks in exactly the same way. And still, all these unique bodies can move as one. That is the gift of the body as medicine: a healthy body and a calm breath become the home of a peaceful heart.
